“There is no safety zone amid the global economic crisis spreading worldwide. To go all out to respond to changes in the global economic environments and the financial crisis, we should review our action plans and discuss more advanced ones.” Hyundai E&C seeks ways to overcome unfavorable factors such as the ongoing slowdown in the domestic construction industry and the global financial crisis by coming up with more aggressive business plans. Presided over by CEO Jung Soo-hyun, the 2012 global strategy meeting was held in the annex building to Hyundai E&C Building on August 22 to devise up action plans for the second half of this year to achieve business objectives. Prior to the strategy meeting, presessions for each business divisions were held on August 21. The next day about 120 participants including executive and staff members at the head office and project managers and regional directors at overseas sites reviewed business objectives of each business divisions and construction sites and discussed ways to increase competitiveness. During the eighthour meeting, participants shared a diversity of opinions about specific issues including strengthening of sales activities, supply of human resources and schedule management, profitability- oriented strategies for winning orders and ways to boost competitiveness in the implementation of projects. The meeting was more meaningful in that the head quarter and construction sites joined forces to seek solutions through discussion sessions for each allocated tasks and re-established a close, mutual-assistance system.
